The Municipal Hotel & Spa
Even before I moved to Liverpool I was eyeing up a weekend stay in the Municipal Hotel and luckily I had the perfect excuse: Last year me and one of my best friends Aimee started the tradition of staying in a hotel for our birthdays (as they’re both in November) and this year it was Aimee’s 21st birthday so we thought we’d be more boujee and book a hotel spa ✨🧖🏻♀️.
Our tradition also includes having an evening meal at the hotel’s restaurant and eating homemade birthday cake in bed for breakfast 😋.
Firstly, the building itself is just so beautiful 😍 I walk past it most days as it’s on route to my gym and I’m still in awe when I see it. The building dates back to 1868 and was originally the home of Liverpool City Council.
Aimee’s birthday was on a Sunday this year so we saved some pennies on the hotel, a double room cost £112 (which I thought was an amazing deal as the Saturday night was double that).
For the spa we paid £30 per person, this was the off peak time of 7am to 10am. We needed to pick off peak anyway as Aimee was on a flight home to the Isle of Man after lunch so it worked out well for us, enough time to have a slice of cake in bed afterwards 😉.
The spa was lush with a large pool, sauna, steam room, it also had this shower experience where you could play sounds of the rainforest and storms (very relaxing 😌). Because it was early on a Monday morning we pretty much had the spa to ourselves.
So if you’re looking for a beautiful place to stay in Liverpool I’d highly recommend the Municipal Hotel. Only con, it’s massive! We got lost trying to find our room many times 😂.
